To avoid too high an alcohol percentage and intense tannins, Peter Sisseck left more bunches on the vines. The old vines had sufficient water reserves, and from September 26th, grapes were harvested that were evenly ripened.

Flor de Pingus is made from grapes from partially leased vineyards near Barrosso and San Cristóbal. Sisseck experiments with whole bunches among the lightly crushed grapes, which ferment in 2,000-liter oak barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in a combination of 30% new French barrels and used Pingus barrels. It is bottled without fining or filtering.

Flor de Pingus mirrors Pingus, and the differences in quality are less than the price suggests. In 2008, Robert Parker's representative in Spain, Jay Miller, noted that "For the price/quality ratio, this may be Spain's best wine." This statement still holds true, although the price may not be appropriate for a typical weekday evening.

Flor de Pingus is a powerful wine with notes of plums, violets and spicy herbs, complemented by warm spices from the barrels. The wine is full-bodied, but has a fresh, salty minerality that makes the tannins more subtle.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0816/5435/0170/products/dominio-de-pingus-flor-de-pingus-2019-790151.jpg?v=1779432111
