The name was changed to Clos des Goisses in 1956. Originally made entirely from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir has also been part of the grape mix since 1964. In the 2014 vintage, the blend consists of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay. The year 2014 was challenging, but the sunny exposure of the slope helped the vines to cope with the frequent rain showers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003e The fruit is vinified and matured without the use of foreign yeast strains in both new and old barrels as well as stainless steel. To preserve the freshness and durability of the wine, malolactic fermentation has been prevented. The final cuvée was assembled in the spring of 2015 and matured for 96 months in Philipponnat's cellars. The wine was bottled in March 2023 with a dosage of 4.25 g\/l, which classifies it as an Extra Brut.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n \u003cp\u003eClos des Goisses is known for its mineral finesse and remarkable longevity. Swedish champagne expert Richard Juhlin predicts the wine will improve by 5 points on the Parker scale and recommends storing it in a dark cellar for best enjoyment between 2030 and 2040.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\n\u003cp\u003e The Champagne region, located east of Paris, covers approximately 30,000 hectares divided into five sub-regions. Grape ripening is a challenge due to the low average temperature and the growing season is short with the risk of frost and rain.
