The Rhône Valley is divided into two distinct regions: the Northern Rhône, where single-varietal wines such as Syrah dominate, and the Southern Rhône, where blends, most often based on Grenache, dominate. This results in a wide spectrum of wine profiles, from the structured and tannic Côte-Rôties and Hermitages in the north to the complex and layered Châteauneuf-du-Papes and Gigondas in the south. The region's microclimates, varied terroir and long winemaking tradition contribute to its unique wine production.
