Joseph is the son of Marc Colin - Marc Colin and the Colin clan have many generations of winemaking behind them. Marc founded his Domaine in Saint Aubin in 1976 - 2 of his 4 children are still active at Domaine Marc Colin. Joseph and his very famous brother Pierre-Yves Colin Morey both run their own independent domaine today. Pierre-Yves went on his own in 2005 - he is today one of the most hyped white wine producers in the world. His very ordinary generic Burgundy Chardonnay has a market price of 800 kr per fl . Just to signal that expensive wines are made there.

Joseph and Yves both received 6 hectares of vineyards from their father - they received exactly the same fields and half of these each. Joseph exclusively makes his own Domaine wine from these modest 6 hectares .

Joseph Colin works with minimal use of sulfur and pesticides in the fields. The Colin family are white wine specialists , with very few deviations into red wine production - and they have one and only one focus - that is to make elegant, mineral and terroir-driven white wines from the unique Chardonnay grape. They succeed well, to say the least. What pleases us most is that Joseph Colin's wines are of excellent quality, and at less than half the price of his big brother's hyped wines

Clos du M eix is ​​a modest vineyard in size - only 0.70 hectares, and only 2 domaines make wine here. Domaine Joseph Colin & the hyped and expensive Domaine Hubert Lamy, whose version of this wine costs up to 1000 kr per bottle, depending on the vintage.

From the few plots Joseph has, he gets Chardonnay grapes into the cellar, from +40 year old vines. He ages the wine in a mix of 500 liter barrels and 228 liter barrels - he only wants to use used barrels for this wine. The wines from this beautiful field consistently achieve a wonderful citrus tone in the aroma - the wine has a certain concentration that is kept in balance, which is not exaggerated by the use of oak in the cellar. The focus is on the stylish and elegant.

The 2018 vintage is one of the warmest in recent times in Burgundy, and you can taste it in this wine. The fruit is rich and ripe with notes of peach, apricot and yellow apple, complemented by citrus and a hint of honey. The barrel aging contributes creamy nuances of vanilla, toasted almonds and brioche. The acidity is more rounded than in cooler years, giving a soft and generous structure. The texture is almost silky, and the aftertaste is persistent with both fruit and a slightly toasted touch. A wine for those who love fuller white Burgundy.
