Origin & manufacturer

The wine comes from the Ca' Marcanda estate, owned by the renowned wine company Angelo Gaja. The estate is located in the Bolgheri area of ​​western Tuscany, near the coast, where the climate of warm days and cool sea breezes creates optimal conditions for wines with both fruit and freshness.

Grape composition & technique

For the 2023 vintage, the grape composition is approximately 55% Merlot, 35% Syrah and 10% Sangiovese . The alcohol percentage is around 14% for the vintage.

Vinification takes place separately for the different grape varieties, after which the wine matures in French barriques for approximately 12–18 months – which adds structure and complexity.

Smell & taste

In the glass, the wine appears with a deep ruby ​​red color .

The aroma is rich and inviting with notes of ripe dark berries , such as blackcurrant and blackberry, as well as accents of licorice, pepper, tobacco and Mediterranean herbs .

On the palate, the style is full and round , with good ripe fruit, soft but present tannins and a fresh acidity that provides balance. The finish is long and elegant with spicy and slightly mineral undertones.

Food pairing & serving

Serving temperature: approximately 16–18 °C to bring out the full structure and complexity of the wine.

Food match: Suitable for hearty meat dishes such as grilled lamb, beef cheeks, game and mature cheeses. The richness and ripe fruit also make it good for “celebration meals”.
